The clock ticks slowly,
Young ones pray to grow quickly.
Words flood past their hollow glass eyes,
Losing velocity as they climb.
Tick tick tick…
Another minute gone by.
The clock no longer fades,
Between the lines in a hidden space.
Words tend to act like a cage,
Learn to resent the clock and time and space.
Tuck tuck tuck…
Away the words on the page.
Hands only there
to draw my eyes,
Away
From the light
Before me.
To work these precious minutes away.
When and why did I sign,
Away all my time?
To be under the thumb of a man,
9 to 5 for a damn drop in the can.
Tick tick tick…
The clock choosin’ for me ain't gonna cut it.
Hands only there
to draw my eyes,
Away
From the light
Before me.
Too work these golden hours away.
Yesterday I was a child,
Unbounded mind at night.
Now I’m 23 and go to bed at 9,
Seems it was too damn easy to fall in line.
Well you can count me out…
From that cookie cutter square cutout.
Consider it shattered
Consider it shattered
Ooos
Hands only there
to draw my eyes,
Away
From the light before me.
Too work this life of mine away.
–Clock only there,
to draw my eyes,
Away
From the world that I need.
From the four bleak walls that bind me.
Ooos (fade out)
